Urgent help
Hacked or scammed? Do this first
Think you’ve been hacked or scammed (for example via a fake 'helpdesk')? Stay calm and follow these steps — then I’ll help you get safe.
1. Disconnect from the internet
Turn off wifi or unplug the network cable. This stops a scammer or malware from having live access.
2. Do not grant remote access
Did someone call you and have you install software (like AnyDesk or TeamViewer)? Remove it and never call the company back on the number they gave you.
3. Change passwords — from another device
On a safe device, first change your email and banking passwords, then the rest. Turn on two-step verification where possible.
4. Transferred money? Call your bank now
Call your bank’s emergency line and report it to the Dutch Fraudehelpdesk (088 786 7372). File a police report.
5. Have your computer checked safely
I come over with priority, clean and secure your system, and explain how to spot this next time. Urgent help comes first — call 020 369 2949.
